by rcboatc on October 26, 2011

If you have your own RC boat and have been able to play with it for quite a while then you likely understand that playing with it is one great way of spending your time outdoors. Most radio-controlled boat is available in many different forms such as submarine, for racing and for show. Little did you know that you can actually improve its performance if you connect a schottky diode over its existing ESC (electronic speed controls) because of the unique properties that the diode possess as compared with an ordinary generic diode.

So, prepare the schottky diode first by stripping a little expose wire on both the red and black wires, in case that it has a wire cables. Once ready, you will just have to solder the red cable to the positive terminal of the motor of the RC boat and if the diode got no wires and only metal leads then you will have to solder the lead with a silver strife to the positive side of the motor. Before you proceed to the next step, kindly review the connections you have created and verify that it is as exactly as what has been described.

At this point, all you need to do is to solder the remaining wire cable or lead to the negative side of the motor of RC boat and make sure that you test the boat on the water once more to ensure that everything went smoothly and perfectly fine because you will have to recheck what you have done in case something has gone wrong.

Drive Shaft Sealing Process For RC Boat

by rcboatc on October 26, 2011

Most of the miniature RC boat that you can observe on most of the lakes nowadays take the plunge on the water the very same as the full-sized boat do. Actually, there’s not much difference once they were in the water and for this reason, it is also important that you take care of the boat’s drive shaft in order that it will not develop any leaks since in case it do then that will greatly diminish the life and performance of the tiny boat. Leakage sealing is not that difficult as long as you have the necessary tools and technical know-how on how to exactly do it.

To start with, you will have to set the RC boat somewhere stable like a workbench and the like and make sure that you take a look at the surface of the shaft. Carefully examine the surface and look for any cracks. In case you discover one, you can then use a screwdriver to remove the screws that secures the drive shaft to the main body of the boat. As soon as you get hold of the drive shaft, it is important that you take the time in cleaning it and make sure that it is dry before you try to place it back once again.

Of course, once you are done, return the drive shaft to the RC boat and if possible, use a waterproof silicone to coat the stuffing box and let it dry for around 24 hours in order that it will resist water for as much as possible.
